It is with heavy hearts but joyful memories that we announce the passing of William A. Hill Jr, affectionately known as "Man," on August 2, 2024.
Born on September 23, 1974, Man was a beloved father, son, brother, and the life of every gathering. His presence lit up any room, and while we’ll miss him dearly, we’ll always smile when we think of him. Man wasn’t just a truck driver—he was a road warrior with a knack for finding humor in the everyday and turning long hauls into adventures. A jack of all trades, he could fix just about anything, and if he couldn’t, he’d still give it a shot—and have a good laugh about it later.
He was the family’s resident clown, always ready with a joke or a funny story. And while he knew his way around a kitchen, what Man really loved was eating. If there was a plate of food nearby, you could bet Man was close behind, ready to enjoy it with the biggest smile. Cooking was just a means to an end—the real joy was in the eating! When he wasn’t cracking jokes, tinkering with something, or enjoying a good meal, you’d find him by the water with a fishing rod in hand, relishing the simple pleasures of life. Man’s laughter was contagious, his spirit unbreakable, and his love for life unmatched.
A Celebration of Man's incredible life will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Wards Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3764 Delway Hwy, Harrells, NC 28444. Family, friends, and anyone who’s ever laughed at one of his jokes, shared a meal with him, or joined him on a fishing trip are welcome to join us as we remember the joy he brought into our lives.
As a result of recent weather and standing water, burial will take place at Wards Chapel MBC Cemetery at a later date to be announced.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 15, 2024, 2:00-7:00 pm, with family present from 6:00-7:00 pm, at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328.
The family will also receieve friends and visitors other times at the home of Betty Tatum, 1357 Bill Town Rd, Rose Hill, NC 28458.
Man is now reunited with his late father, William A. Hill Sr., who surely greeted him with a warm welcome and maybe even a good meal.
Man leaves behind his loving children: son William Hill, daughter Tanaysha Hill, and son Jaiden Hill. He is also survived by his devoted mother, Barbara Walker, and his siblings: Queen Hill, Michelle Hill, Mark Hill, Starr Hill, and William Hill, Wayne Hill. Man was also a proud uncle, leaving behind numerous nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Man. They all knew firsthand that with Man around, there was never a dull moment.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you share a joke, enjoy a big meal, or simply do something that makes you smile—just like Man would have wanted. Donations can also be made in his memory.
