Wilbert Edward Barber

Wilbert Edward Barber 68 of 1845 Payton Daniels Road passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at his home.

A Memorial Service will take place at 12:00 pm on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328.

Wilbert, better known as 'Boo Boo' to those who knew him best, was born in Sampson County on June 27, 1957 to the late Wilbert Wayne Barber and Earline Asha Light. Boo Boo received his education from Clinton City Schools and later went on to make his living doing various odd jobs for people. As a child, Boo Boo attended services at Turkey Baptist Church and later at Grace United Methodist Church.

Boo Boo loved going to the beach, fishing, and spending time with his beloved dog, Lexi. He adored his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews. Boo Boo was a kind soul who was always willing to lend a helping hand where he could. He was truly loved by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Wilbert & Earline Barber, Boo Boo is preceded in death by his sisters: Cindy D. Barber, Debbie Grady, and Edna Vann; and his great-niece: Jasline McKenzie.

Those left to cherish the precious memory of Boo Boo include his niece: Emily 'Pickles' Barber of Newport News, VA; great-nieces: Anna & Kaylee of Clinton; dear friends: Harry Melvin of Newport News, VA and Eugene Carter of Clinton; and a host of friends and neighbors who will miss his dearly.
