Shelvia Jean Merritt Obituary

Shelvia Jean  Boone Merritt, 85, of 511 Stewart Ave., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Mary Gran Nursing Center in Clinton, NC.

Jean was born April 12, 1940 in Bladen County to the late Robert and Maude Smith Boone. She was preceded in death by her Husband, T.C. Merritt; her sister, Mary Annette Boone; her brother, William Stacy Boone; her daughter, Clara Lynette "Lynn" Bradshaw Williams; and her grandson, Brantley Daniel Best, "The apple of her eye." and her daughter-in-law, Jeanette Bullard Lewis.

Funeral service will be held on 2:00 pm Sunday, May 25, 2025, at Spirit of Life Church of God, 180 Overland Rd, Clinton, NC 28328, with Bishop Darian Parker officiating, Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park, located at   2809 US-421, Clinton, NC 28328.    

Family will receive friends Sunday, May 25, 2025 from 1:00-2:00 pm, in the Sanctuary before the service. and other times at her home 511 Stewart Ave. of Clinton.

Jean was was active member of Spirit of Life Church. She worked with the youth and was also on the prayer team for many years. She loved her church and her church family.

Jean is survived by her daughters: Gloria Jackson of Clinton and Beth Best & Husband Brantley of Mount Olive; her sons: Rodney Lewis of Vanceboro, NC, Chris Lewis of Clinton, and Paul Hawkins of Clinton; her sisters: Arlene Boone Best of Goldsboro and Carolyn Wiley of Clinton; and her brother: Bobby Allen Boone & Marilyn of Leland. In addition Jean has seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and adopted family. Follow Pallbears: Rodney Lewis, James Autry, Keith Merritt, Tim Merritt, Andy Williamson, Joshua McLamb, Noah Lewis and Timothy Rouse.
