Rufus L. Williams Jr. affectionately known as “Nick or Bruh” was born December 14, 1957 to the late Annie L. Williams and Rufus Williams Sr. in Sampson County, North Carolina. Rufus Jr. departed this life on November 17, 2022. He fought a long, hard fight with his heart condition, but his body was tired and needed eternal rest.
Rufus Jr. received his education in Newburgh NY and graduated from Newburgh Free Academy (The Gold Back Eagles) in 1976. He was a basketball standout and passionately enjoyed the sport. Rufus Jr. was employed as a truck driver and a self-employed Auto Dealer for many years.
Rufus Jr. was no stranger to anyone and came to be dearly loved by his family, friends, and business associates. He inspired youth to venture into entrepreneurship as he did in auto sales. He vested many friendships during his auto sales and repair career to include Ronnie Morehead, of Morehead Honda and Alex and Chris Derisi of Waterbury Salvage.
Funeral Services will take place at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 4442 Bonnetsville Rd, Clinton, NC 28328. Burial will follow at Bearskin Cemetery, 4721 Bearskin Rd, Clinton, NC 28328.
Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 pm, family present from 5:00-6:00 pm, on Friday, November 25, 2022 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328.
Rufus Jr. was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Cynthia M. Williams but leaves to cherish his memories: Candra Capers and Christopher Smith, of the home; four sons: Romell Williams of FL, Rufus Williams III (Charnetta) of GA, Lloyd Williams, and Andrew Burnett of NY; two daughters: Nakitisha Williams and Noel Williams of NY; two sisters: Lucille (James) Lewis and Leeola Williams of NY; three brothers: Gene (Chiniqua) Williams, Demetrius Williams, and Pernell (Bridgette) Judge all of NY; two aunts: Doris Devane of NC and Katherine Judge of NY; one uncle: Willie Beckwith of NC; Extended Family to include: Otis Jones and Cliff Garrison of NY, Zebria Vann, Alondra Vann, Enrique Mathis, Shaina Mathis, Kelvin Gooden, Erica (Luther)Pegues, and Robert Boyd of NC; Lawanda Capers (Kenneth) of NJ; Chester Lane of KY; nine grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
