Robert Moore, Sr. Obituary

On Sunday, June 15, 2025, God in his infinate wisdom and devine love, called home our beloved Robert Lee Moore, Sr.

Robert Lee Moore, Sr., husband of the late Lora Buie Moore, was born on January 15, 1946 to Catherine Rhoades and Lester DeVaughn.

Funeral will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at the First Baptist Church - Roseboro, located at  412 Johnson St, Roseboro, NC 28382. Rev. John Thomas Oliver, officiating. Burial will follow in the Snow Hill Cemetery, 966 Marion-Amos Rd, Roseboro, NC 28382.

Robert resided in Sampson County and attended Clear Run High School. He continued his education and earned a Welding Certificate from Sampson Community College. His employment began at Fort Bragg, NC as an On-Base Commercial Employee. He retired as Security Guard for a Manufacturing Company.

Robert married Lora Buie Moore in 1968. To their union, 5 children were born (Christopher Darin, Robert Lee Jr., Tara Lanette, Michael Dwayne, and Keisha, who preceded him in death. His spiritual journey began at an early age under the leadership of his Stepfather, Rev. Perry Moore and Mother, Mrs. Catherine Rhodes Moore. After his marriage, Robert joined First Missionary Baptist Church in Roseboro, NC, where he served on the Senior Usher Board and Trustee Board.

Robert enjoyed serving his church and community. He was hard working, thoughtful, and cheerful. He enjoyed working to lend a helping hand where needed. He truly enjoyed working on anything with a motor and cooking a pig for family gatherings. Robert and Lora enjoyed traveling to various areas within and outside the United States.

A Walk-Thru visitation will take place 2:00-6:00 pm, family present 5:00-6:00 pm, on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328.

Not only were Robert and Lora a constant guide for their own children, but they recognized the need of committing themselves to providing a home and security to numerous foster children.

In addition to his daughter, Robert is proceded in death by his mother: Catherine Moore; stepfather: Rev. Perry Moore; sisters: Marie Rich, Mary Thomas, and Ella DeVaughn; and brother: Billy Moore.

Surviving to share Robert’s memory are his children: Christopher (Nicasha) of Charlotte, NC, Robert Jr. (Dinnette) of Salemburg, NC, Tara (Anthony) of Spring Lake, NC, and Michael of Roseboro, NC; bonus son: Aaron Evans of Wilmington, NC; devoted grandson: Michaiah, of the home; grandchildren: Shaneeka, Jekayla, Lane, Myles, Bianka, Jada, Aza, Toni, Michael Jr., and Haileigh; great-grandchildren: Sa’Mya, Jai’Mir, Chase, Zuri, Zoe, E’Noria, and Calia.

Robert also leaves to cherish his memory his in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins from the Buie, Williams, McNeil, Moore, Murphy, King, Rhodes, Newton, Rich, and DeVaughn tribes. Along with friends and family, children from the neighborhood with whom he shared his home: Cory Wallace, Andrew Thomas, Antwon King, Jackie Williams, and Perry Melvin.

Robert’s legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of those he touched.
