Robert was many things—strong, kind, generous, and full of wisdom. He was the kind of man who led by example, spoke with purpose, and always made time for those he loved. Whether it was offering a helping hand, sharing a laugh, or just sitting in comfortable silence, his presence was a gift we were lucky to have.
A Walk Thru visitation will be held 2:00-5:00 pm on Friday, May 16, 2025 within Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328.
Born on July 27, 1946, in New Brunswick, N.J., to the late Emma Ida Ruth Monroe and Robert Monroe Sr., Robert grew up with a deep appreciation for the importance of family, and he carried those values throughout his life. He built a career as a mechanic, but his proudest role was that of a father and a grandfather. He guided us with love and unwavering support, always encouraging us to be our best and to treat others with kindness.
Robert loved his Westerns, he loved fishing, and he loved to cook. He was known for his sweet potato pies! He touched the lives of so many.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Monroe of Woodland, NC; Five sons, Tremel Monroe of Las Vegas, NV, Robert Monroe Jr, Patrick Monroe, Joshua Monroe, and Mical Majette, all of Raleigh, NC. Four daughters, Vallerie Douglas of Garner, NC, La'Dale Harris of Greensboro, NC, Ciera Peebles of Murfreesboro, NC, and Shir'Myria Monroe of Woodland, NC. Twelve grandchildren, whom he loved more than life itself. One sister, Estelle Russell (Eddie) of Dudley, NC; Seven brothers, Jimmy Monroe of Winston-Salem, NC, Jefferson Monroe (Donna) of Roseboro, NC, James Monroe of Roseboro, NC, Troy Monroe of Winston-Salem, NC, David Monroe of Dudley, NC, J.T. Monroe (Ann) of New Jersey, and Johnny Warren. And also, a host of nieces, other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Ron'Gina Wilder, His sisters Ida Mae Stokes, Pearl Lee Bethea, and his brother Sam Monroe.
Though we may part for now, remember- this isn't goodbye, just a gentle 'see you later'. His love remains with us, always close, always guiding. Until we meet again, we carry him in our hearts and in all that we do.
