Dr. Kevin Dwayne Parrish Sr. gave all credit to Pastor, Dr. Jonathon Bailey Sr. On one New Years Eve service, He said, "Son you are on a collision course with God". That word changed his life and set the once young Kevin D. Parrish, on a path to becoming the great Pastor, leader, and life changer he aspired to be. He understood very early on that to become a leader you had to become a great follower, and to be humbled by those that positively deposited into your life. There was a calling on his life, and he began to study and digest God's word. Unto death the WORD OF GOD was the leader, and he was the follower. For that reason, he became his Pastor's right hand. Dr. Bailey taught him about being a Christian, and became not only his father in the ministry, but his "Dad" and role model. From his adolescent years to his teenage years, he experienced very turbulent moments in life after the death of his mother.

Dr. Kevin Dwayne Parrish Sr. was a gentle giant in his own right. His gifts and talents were to be used for service to God's people. He believed that his love for God and for all mankind is what characterized him as a Pastor. "We are going to just continue to trust God". He believed in not only talking the talk but walking the walk. He believed in the power of giving, and he practiced giving more than receiving. So much so, that he became a kidney donor to a person in need. He believed the world can be changed by an example and not by an opinion.

Dr. Kevin Dwayne Parrish Sr. was called to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in 1980 and was ordained in 1985. He served in the Gospel ministry for forty-four years. He accepted the call to a pastorate in 1986 without any formal training and became the Pastor of the Western Star MBC in Indianapolis, IN. He became entrenched in the Word, and the Word became entrenched in him. It was his duty to make sure he knew and understood the plan God set before him. He watched his Pastors and mentors: Dr. Jonathan Bailey Sr., Dr. Wayne T. Harris, Sr., and Dr. Melvin Girton, Sr.,, share God's Word, and watched hpw God worked through them. These three men of God helped shape his Christian worldview, and from each one of them he gleamed a different characteristic.

Dr. Kevin Dwayne Parrish Sr. had 6 children, 5 girls and 1 boy. He unconditionally loved his children. He would say, "We are Parrish's, and we stick together". He confessed his love to and married Quintella Brooks. He expressed his love for his wife wherever he was. He would say, "I don't care what happens they better not make Quinn cry!"

Dr. Kevin Dwayne Parrish Sr. was a graduate of Indianapolis Public School System. He believed that an educated preacher was a powerful one. So, he knew he had to practice what he stood for. He graduated from Beulah Bible College (IN) where he received his Bachelor's in Biblical Theology. He received his Master of Divinity and his Doctorate in Theology at North Carolina Theological Seminary.

Dr. Kevin Dwayne Parrish Sr. was a certified Chaplain. He received his certification in 2021 from Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina. Dr. Parrish taught as professor at the North Carolina Theological Seminary in Clinton, NC. By the guidance of the Holy Spirit, was involved with and supported various ministries and organizations, such as Word Temple Ministries, Baptist Ministers Foresight Alliance, and the Union District Missionary Baptist Association (IN). He was also President of Christian Education for UCOF, and Convalescent Minister and Director of Christian Education for Mt. Horeb MBC. He also served as an Associate Minister for Mt. Zoar MBC, Durham, NC, First Christian MBC, New Garfield MBC, Tabernacle MBC, and Antioch MBC, just to name a few.

Dr. Kevin Dwayne Parrish Sr. was a proud Senior Pastor of Big Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Clinton, NC for 8 years. Pastor Parrish possessed the heart of a servant, and he faithfully and diligently ministered to his congregation. He loved his church and his church family. Pastor Parrish was passionate about his church, and what you were not going to do was talk negatively about them to him. Pastor Parrish believed in preaching and teaching the Word of God, he believed in preached the Truth. "Let's see what the Bible says". He developed and grew by faith in the power of God to lead the people of God to higher heights and deeper depths, and to preach the acceptable year of the Lord. Rev. Dr. Parrish was an evangelist, teacher, mentor, and a man of dignity and integrity. He was well respected among his peers and was highly respected as a man of God. He preached the message of salvation across the country. His ultimate desire was for the world to know Jesus and be saved. Through it all, he was faithful to the call that the Lord had placed on his life. He never met a stranger. He had a phone ministry and if you knew him, you were a part of that ministry.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Quintella Parrish of Clayton, NC; daughters: Destiny Lynn Barker, Tra'nae Denise Parrish, Kierra Denae Parrish, Shaila Sheniece Parrish and DeAja Dominique Taylor; son, Kevin Dwayne Parrish, Jr.; grandson, Jeremiah Barker; granddaughters: Skylar Taylor and Zoey Louise Nicole White; three sisters: Deborah Logwood, Naomi Logwood and Donna Langford (Eddie); three brothers: Michael Parrish, Gregory Martin and Raymond Logwood; mother-in-love, Fannie Cameron; the loving Jackson Family; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, friends, and Big Piney Grove MBC Family. Those that were uniquely special to Kevin; adoring and loving Mother-in-love, with whom he shared a heart-warming relationship. His favorite sister-in-law, Demetria Hunter, whos relationship Kevin stated was like Fred and Esther on the comedy show, Sanford and Son. Last, but certainly not least, is his best friend, Dr. Michael Searcy, who was probably his most frequent phone ministry participant, and whom he loved as a brother, "My Friend".

Rev. Dr. Kevin Dwayne Parrish, Sr., take your rest. You "fought the good fight, you have finished your course, you have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for you a crown of righteousness..."(2 Timothy 4:7-8)
