Raymond Lee Owens 77, affectionately known as “Buckaroo”, “Root” and “Rim”, departed this earthly life on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, to take his place among the angels of Heaven.
Raymond was born on February 1, 1947, in Sampson County, North Carolina to the late Earl Lee and Bridie Owens. He was preceded in death by Brothers: James Owens, Willie Owens, Almond Owens, Wendell Owens and Benny Owens; and Sisters: Melva Owens, Shirley Owens and Eva Bell.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 pm Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 4442 Bonnetsville Rd, Clinton, NC 28328. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery.
Walk Through will take place from 2:00-5:00 pm on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328.
At an early age, Raymond joined Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where he served on the Usher Board. Over the years, he worked at Flake’s Tire Service, DuBose Steel, S&W Concrete and Sampson Transportation. To his family, Buckaroo was dependable, strong-willed, supportive and caring. He really loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them all. Buckaroo was a great cook and he loved having friends and family over to the house for Sunday’s Dinner. Those of you who knew him, knew that he was a pro at ‘frying fish’.
Buckaroo left to cherish his precious memories, Loving Wife of 55 years: Linda Faye Owens; 3 Children: Tim (Tina) Owens of Harrells, NC, Michael (Zandra)Owens Sr. of Fayetteville, NC and Lisa (Bennie) Anderson of Harrisburg, NC; 12 Grandchildren: Jessica, Amanda, Michael Jr., Michael Simmons, Mikiela, Zarya, Jayla, Sholanda, Tiana, Isaiah, DaQuan and Brandon; 12 Great-Grandchildren: Karter, Amir, Jaiden, Josiah, Juh’Ki, Jaidyn, Julian, Azailyah, Adriaunna, Ja’Niyah, Michael III ‘Tre’ and Ayden; 3 Sisters: Alice Holmes, Jean Fryar and Cynthia Owens; One Brother: Edward/Eddie Owens; Special Friend: Glenn Herring; God-Daughters: Pamela Burris of Charlotte, NC and Tammy Montgomery of Bryans Road, MD. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
