On Aug 31, 2024 Patricia “Patty” Louise McGraw went to be our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was residing at Cardinal care nursing home in Hope Mills, North Carolina, the past few years due to her ailing health.
Patty was born March 31, 1951 to Rufus and Ruth Burney. She was born in Bladen County North Carolina but later moved with her parents and siblings to Cedar Lake, Indiana. She married late Eugene Mahan at a young age and had their three children in Morocco, Indiana. They divorced in 1979. She married Leo McGraw in Jan 1980. They were married for over 40 years until they divorced in 2018.
Memorial Service for Patty will be held at White Oak Baptist Church in White Oak, NC at the Sunday service Sept 22,2024
She was known by most as a loving mother, and doting grandmother that was called by many Nanny. When her granddaughters played ball, she was the loudest in the gym, routing on their team, rain or shine. She was there with snacks to share. She never met a stranger she could converse with anyone, and had so many friends throughout her life.
Her gift in life was hospitality. She welcomed her guests from the time they arrived until their departure from her home. She could make a mean pot roast and was noted for her chocolate chip cookies, carrot cake, or her aunt Joe’s poundcake. Her family always looked forward to eating a great meal she prepared, and listening to her silly stories that were full of laughter. She loved her family deeply and will be missed, but never forgotten. Until we meet again.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Susan Burney Taylor.
Survived by children Genia Mahan Wilgus (Randall), Gerald “Tony” Mahan(Shannon) and Robert “Chris”Mahan. Siblings Rufus “Andy” Burney, Gerald Burney and Shirley Klee (Bill). Granddaughters Lauren Ball (Tyler), Kortney Persuhn (Gavin), Kaityln “Katie”Maar(Andrew), Abbey and Ella Mahan. Great grandchildren Joelle and Jensen Ball and Taytum Persuhn. Many nieces and nephews that she absolutely loved.
We love you, mom.
Revelations 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; And there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: For the former things are passed away.
