Mildred Williams McPhail, 78, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at her home in Clinton, NC.

Mildred Lee McPhail was born on May 15, 1942 to the late Lillie Franklin and Charlie Preston Williams. She was raised by her aunt, the late Lessie Mae Oates. Mildred attended First Missionary Baptist Church of Roseboro, where she was an usher and a Daughter of Zion. Mildred was a faithful member until her health failed. Mildred was married to Robert Lee McPhail who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Jean Whitted, grandsons, Willie Andre Whitted and Craig Lamont Whitted; brothers, Arthur Williams, Hildred Lee Williams, Harry Cleveland Oates, Clifton Oates and David Oates; sisters:, Viola Royal, Marlena Mayshaw, Margaret Williams, Lorine Freeman and Annie Mae Melvin.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 19, 2020 at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, with Rev. John T. Oliver officiating.

Mildred leaves to cherish her memories: Daughters: Betty G. (Willie) Whitted, Jessie M. (Henry) Murray, Marsha L. (Henri Dwayne) Parker all of Clinton, NC, sons: Robert C. (Glorytine) Williams of Warsaw, NC, Mike T. (Shealla) MCPhail of Salemburg, NC, Ike D. (Carolyn) McPhail of Roseboro, NC sisters: Annie B. Blue of Anchorage, AK, Peggy J. (Feley) Coleman of New Windsor, NY, Rosie Mitchell of Brooklyn, NY, Gennie Owens and Eva Bell both of Clinton, NC, Geraldine Howard, Anglene Williams, Alice M. Oates all of Newburg, NY, brothers: Joe (Essie) Oates of Roseboro, NC, Jimmy (Virginia) Oates of Goldsboro, NC, Benny S. Oates of Georgia, Henry (Doreen) Oates and Ronnie (Tiffany) Oates both of Fayetteville, NC and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren,  2 great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends  prior to the service from 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Service, 1246 Hobbton Hwy. Clinton, NC
