Melana Villafranco 18, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 in Duplin County. 

Melana was born November 29, 2003 in Lenoir County to Pedro Villafranco and Melanie Merritt. She was a recent graduate of East Duplin High School and was enrolled in Early Childhood Education as James Sprunt Community College. She had a love for all children. Melana was the baby of the family and was very much a princess and a diva. She had a goofy personality and was a bit clumsy at times. She was shy yet loved to be the center of attention. She often dolled up to go out or take photos. Recently she had developed a passion for poetry and was learning about scrapbooking in hopes of starting her own.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday September 20, 2022 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy. Clinton, NC 28328.

The family will receive visitors from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel.

Left to cherish the memory of Melana are her mother: Melanie Merritt of Beulaville, NC; her father: Pedro Villafranco of Pink Hill, NC; her siblings: Benito Merritt of Beulaville, NC, Dallas Barron of Kenansville, NC, and Patrick Villafranco of Beulaville, NC; sister-in-law: Sandra Villafranco of Beulaville, NC; grandmother: Brenda Mendez of Beulaville, NC; grandfather: Ivy Mathis of Magnolia, NC; and grandparents: Margareta and Jesus Villafranco of Pink Hill, NC. She also leaves 7 nieces and nephews.
