Mary E. Hall 92, of 2898 W. Main St., passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
Mary was born April 11, 1932 in Sampson County to the late William A. Horne and Lonnie P. Carter. She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, and friend to many people. She is remembered for her love of family and her incredible strength to overcome so many challenges throughout her life.
If you recognize her name, then chances are you have probably been fed by Mary at some point. As the owner of Mary's Restaurant and Mary's Grill, she worked countless hours feeding the community and performing acts of kindness for so many people. Mary was the center of her large family and was known as the family Matriarch. Her love and kindness touched the lives of many people in her family and throughout the community. She will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1017 Sunset Ave, Clinton, NC 28328. Burial will follow in the George Horne Cemetery located at 3017 Southriver Rd., Autryville, NC 28318.
Visitation will be held prior to the service, Friday June 7, 2024, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at the church.
Mary is preceded in death by her Husband: Henry Hall; Infant Children: James Hall and Brenda Hall; Grandchildren: Gregory Wallace Jr., Jaron Hall and Jessica Draughon; Siblings: Margaret Phillips, Edna Honeycutt, David Horne, James "Buck" Horne, William H. Horne, David Horne, Helen H. Freeman, and Vicky Horne; Son-in-Laws: Gregory Wallace Sr. and George Townsend; and Brother-in-Law: Stan Hendrick.
Those left to ensure Mary's legacy lives on include her Children: Frances Wallace of Clinton, James Hall (Connie) of Lake Norman, Betty Hall of the home, Jean Townsend of Salemburg, Ellen Smith (Ronald) of Clinton, Eddie Hall (Brenda) of Autryville, Tony Hall (Faye) of Clinton, and Patty Hall of the home; Siblings: Vivian Hendrick of Virginia and Ray Horne (Linda) of Roseboro; as well as 24 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, and 5 Great Great Grandchildren.
