Lula Jay Ashford , 90 of 05 Winfrey Street, was the daughter of the late Effie Ashford and John Henry Ashford. She was born May 24, 1924 and called to eternal rest November 11, 2014.
"Lulu" resided at The Magnolia where she was affectionately known as "their baby". Before she became ill, she could be found walking up and down the halls carrying a baby doll or a book. She would walk up behind you and say "boo" or "I love you".
She was always ready to give you a hug or a smile. Everyone who came in contact with her grew to love her.
A Home Going service will be held at 1:00 Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Hope Valley Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mosses Williams officiating, Burial will follow in the Cobbs Cemetery in Faison, NC.
Left to cherish her memories are: her most devoted sister: Hettie Mae Boykin of Clinton; one step-brother: Herman Ashford of Goldboro, one step-sister: Belulah Faison of Warsaw; two nieces: Alisa Clayburn Owens (Frankie) of Raleigh and Tallulah "Baby" Boykin of Clinton, two great-nieces: Heather and Jessica Clayburn of Raleigh, one great nephew: Matthew Clayburn of Raleigh, her "family" at The Magnolia and other relatives and friends.
A public visitation will be held 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm with family present from 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Hope Valley Funeral Service & Cremation 1246 Hobbton Hwy.
