Leonard Edward Corbett was born July 8, 1967 in New York to the late Essie Corbett Ray and William Kary Ray Sr. Leonard departed this life for eternal rest on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the Sampson County Expo. Center in the Heritage Hall, 414 Warsaw Rd., Clinton, NC 28328. Apostle Onyx Martin Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, located on Old NC 24 Hwy, Clinton, NC.

Visitation will take place 2:00-7:00 pm, with the family present 6:00-7:00 pm, on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328.

Leonard graduated from Union High School in June of 1987. He worked as a custodian, while in high school. After graduation, he met the love of his life, Putrena Raynor, and they married on August 29, 1991. They were married for a total of 32 wonderful years. His entire life, Leonard had an incredible work ethic. He worked for Allen Hyatt Nissan as a Detail Manager for 11 years. During that time he also worked 2 years part-time for the Sampson County Jail. He also worked 2 years for the Coca-Cola Company in Goldsboro, NC, He later went on to become a Detail Manager for GO Automotive/ Deacon Jones and was a dedicated member on their team for 35 years, until his passing.

Leonard was an Usher at St. Paul Disciples Church of Christ for their Men’s Day Program. He later joined Higher Level Worship Center, where he was a member until his passing. Leonard was a Mason of Silver Square Lodge #43 and Kindah Temple 62 (Shriner). Leonard loved to ride his motorcycle and was a member of the Spiritual Ryders Club. He also enjoyed helping his brother-in-law, Ollen at Raynor’s Car Wash and Detailing Service.

Leonard and his son, Joshua enjoyed pulling jokes on Putrena together. They could always be found together doing landscaping, fishing, working on cars, skinning deer, and shooting guns, Leonard and his brother, Shelton shared a strong bond. They enjoyed riding bikes, having breakfast, talking junk, laughing and messing with everyone. Leonard was Shelton’s “ELROY”.

Leonard loved his Westerns, watching the news, the Discovery Channel and the Dick Gregory Show. His favorite gospel songs included: “Something About the Name Jesus”, “God is Still In Charge”, “Lord, I Know You Been so Good”, and “I Can’t Give Up”. His favorite R&B music included: Keith Sweat: Nobody; King George: To Long, Keep on Rolling; 2Pac: HailMary, Dear Mama, Shed So Many Tears; Teddy Swims: I Can’t Make You Love Me.

Leonard was a father figure to his brothers, Travis, Lil Kary, and Chris. After meeting his sister, Greta, he loved and spoiled her, often calling her his baby and saying Ronald was his Big Brother. Leonard was a devoted husband and father.
