Katherine Whitted

Katherine Whitted 87, was born in Sampson County on July 8, 1934 to the late Sandy Whitted Jr. and Mettie Boykin Whitted. She peacefully departed this life on May 27, 2022 at 7:55 pm at Westfield Nursing & Rehab of Sanford, NC.

Katherine received her education in the Sampson County School system. She was a dedicated employee of Hamilton Beach sewing factory and later went on to become a homemaker and caregiver to many families in the Clinton area. She was a faithful member of Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church until her health declined. Katherine enjoyed cooking, shopping, doing for others and spending time with her family and friends.

Katherine is preceded in death by her mother Mettie Boykin Whitted, her father Sandy Whitted Jr. and her brother George Whitted.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 pm on Wednesday June 1, 2022 at Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 45 Red Hill Church Rd, Clinton, NC 28328.Pastor Ray Bolton officiating. Burial will follow at Sandhill Cemetery, located 3 Sampson Street, Clinton, NC. 

Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 pm with family present from 5:00-6:00 pm, Tuesday May 31, 2022 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy. Clinton, NC 28328.

Katherine leaves to cherish her memory, her son Larry Whitted; granddaughter Luciane Barksdale; her great-grandchildren Ladaja Brown (Antwan), Zaiquian Barksdale, Dorona Graham, Tyniq Thompson, Tyvon Thompson; Four great-great-grandchildren Ramir Mallety, Laila, Noah and Avonni Barksdale; her sisters Lulean Williamson and Imogene Whitted; two nieces Valentine Rice and Allison Williamson; three nephews Ron, Christopher and Anthony Whitted as well as a host of other loved ones and friends.
