Joyce Ann (Williams) Boykin

Joyce Ann Boykin 71 passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.

Joyce was born April 18, 1949 in Bladen County to the late Handy and Zadie Mae Williams.  She grew up in Sampson County and attended Charles E. Perry High School. 

She joined Mingle Hill Disciples of Christ Church at a young age, where she was a faithful member of the choir.  Joyce was affectionately known in the neighborhood as Ma Joyce and Grandma Joyce.  She enjoyed singing, dancing and more than anything, she loved to cook.  Joyce made sure that everyone who entered her house left with a full stomach.  Joyce’s kitchen will surely be missed.   

Joyce was preceded in death by a son, Tyrone Williams, two sisters and  six brothers. 

Joyce leaves to cherish precious memories: One son, Berland Boykin of Columbia, SC; two daughters, Rose Mary Newton and Tiffany Boykin of Salemburg, NC, a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren. One sister, Delois (James) Burney of Clinton, NC; Two brothers, Jimmie (Betty) Williams of Salemburg, NC, Oscar (Evelyn) Williams of Roseboro, NC, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.  She also leaves a special friend, James Howard. 

Homegoing services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, February 13, 2020 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton hwy. Clinton, burial will follow in the Howard Cemetery in Salemburg.

A walk thru will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Service, 1246 Hobbton Hwy. Clinton from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm with family present from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm.
