Joey 'JuneBug' Stewart Obituary

Joey Stewart, Jr., also known as Bigg, JuneBug, Joe-B and Juney, was born April 10,1972 to Barbara Jean Artis and the late Joseph Stewart in Sampson County, North Carolina. On January 11, 2025, Joey departed this earthly life at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. He gained his wings and has gone home to be with the Lord.

Funeral Service will take place at 3:00 pm on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328. Following the service, burial will take place in the Artis-Stewart Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be held the hour prior to the service, 2:00-3:00 pm, within the chapel.

Joey resided in his childhood town, Parkersburg, North Carolina, and attended Lakewood High School in Salemburg, North Carolina. Those that knew JuneBug, knew that he was always full of conversation, no matter the subject. His conversations were conducted with lots of love, laughs, and great memories. He always had some type of advice to give and brought light to any situation. He was the life of the party, the comedian, and loved to dance. Joey had a heart of gold and inspired everyone that he encountered.

Early on, Joey recognized he had a natural gift for creating and building. His architectural skills were like no others, and he could build anything out of nothing. Having the ambition and desire to be his own boss, he did just that, laying asphalt and concrete. People from near and far contacted him for any handiwork that they needed done and they were always satisfied with his craftsmanship.

Joey is survived by his loving wife of 20 years: NaShea Stewart of Parkersburg, NC; mother: Barbara Artis of Raleigh, NC; two daughters and bonus daughter: Joya Davis of Arlington, VA, Jaqualla Stewart and Markiera Golden; granddaughter: Korinna Deloatch of Roseboro, NC; sister: Angela Stewart of Raleigh, NC; niece and nephew: Ashley Keith and Ethan Herring of Charlotte, NC; sister: Aretha Stewart (Anthony Gray) and nieces Malana and Amani Gray of Knightdale, NC; god-son: Javious Logan of Roseboro, NC and a host of many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
