Joan (Friberg) Royal 87, of 109 E. Clinton St., died Saturday, September 21, 2024 at her home. 

Joan was born in New York on March 31, 1937 to Kenneth W. Bohyer and Evelyn Funkenberg. She loved to read and do crossword puzzles, as well as spend time walking her dog. Joan always said she had salt water in her veins due to her immense love for the beach.

Memorial Service will be held Sunday October 6, 2024 at 2:00 pm ay Roseboro Methodist Church, 300 N Broad St, Roseboro, NC 28382.

Joan is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Maurice Royal and daughter, Gail Royal Ferris.

Farris of Philadelphia, PA; Daughter: Joni Royal Haas (Charles Jr.) of Moravian Falls, NC; Daugher: Marci Royal Huggins (Jeffrey) of Roseboro, NC; Son: Gary M. Royal (Monica) of Salemburg, NC; 8 Grandchildren: Kenneth W. Ferris (Lindsey) of Raleigh, NC, Erin W. Gruntz (Alan) of Pittsburgh, PA, Andrew M. Huggins of Clinton, NC, Rhys A. Royal (Alexis) of Goldsboro, NC, Anna Kate Ferris (Zaid) of Philadelphia, PA, Marissa Joan Kim (Danny) of Indian Trail, NC, Kelsey A. Royal (Kristopher) of Cornelius, NC and Alexandra G. Royal of Salemburg, NC; as well as a host of Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews. 

The family would like to extend a very special thanks to the wonderful ladies, Gloria, Shelia, Eva and Atiana, who took care of Joan and saw to her comfort. We cannot thank you enough for all you did.

In luie of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the Hospice Facility of your choice in memory of Joan.
