Jesse Elbert Davis, Jr. (JE) passed peacefully on December 25 (Christmas Day) at Cape Fear Valley Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
JE was born to the late Jesse Elbert Davis Sr. and Annie Tew Davis. He grew up with one brother (Sherman), and eight sisters, (Lillie, Zona, Lydia, Alma, Frances, Nadine, Louise and Margie.)
He met the love of his life in downtown Salemburg in 1954. He and Barbara were married in October 1956. They celebrated their 69th anniversary at Surf City with their family of 35.
A jack of all trades, JE ended his career as owner and operator of J&W Electric Motors in Clinton, NC. He then took on the job as the best Grandpa ever.
JE was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church of Salemburg, NC. He served as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Boy Scout Leader and a lifetime Deacon.
He loved music and played many instruments, especially the piano and harmonica entertaining grandchildren, Church members, friends and even hospital workers near the end of his life. JE also loved to fish and talked of his many fishing adventures with family and friends.
Celebration of Jessie's life will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday December the 31st 2025 at Union Grove Baptist Church Salemburg North Carolina, Private burial will be held at a later date. Family will received friends after the service.
Left to cherish his memory is his faithful and loving wife, Barbara Hairr Davis. A daughter, Faith (Tim), and three sons Mark (Lisa), Joel (Regina), Bryan (Dana), 10 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren and sister Margie Wilson and many nieces and nephews.
