James Edwin" Eddie" Cooper Jr, 63, of 95 Stone Henge Drive, died Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Duke University Hospital in Durham.
Eddie was born in 1962, in Sampson County, to the late James Edwin Cooper Sr. and Melba Faye Butler Cooper of Clinton. He was known for his outgoing personality — always with a smile, a joke, or a kind word to share. Eddie loved selling cars and was an amazing salesman and never met a stranger, and was deeply loved by his family and friends. He cherished his children and grandchildren, and his presence brought warmth and laughter to every gathering. Eddie's joyful spirit and love for life will be remembered by all who knew him, and he was preceded in death by his father, James Edwin Cooper Sr.
Celebrating Eddie Cooper Jr's Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 8th, 2025, at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Jonathan Shattuck officiating. Family will receive friends after the service and other times at the home of his mother, 115 Tomahawk Trail, Clinton, North Carolina
He is survived by his mother: Melba Faye Cooper; daughters, Brittany Haney of Dunn and Summer Cooper of Clinton; sister, Kristi Cooper Jones of Clinton; nephews, Nick Carroll of Harrells JJ Carroll and Adam Goodwin of South Carolina; his best friend, Dean Carrothers of Clayton; and his beloved grandchildren, Chase Haney, Chance Haney, and Destiny Haney. Eddie's joyful spirit and love for life will be remembered by all who knew him, and he was preceded in death by his father, James Edwin Cooper Sr also a niece, Nichole Carroll.
