Our beloved Issie Mae Owens 90, peacefully answered God’s call and drifted into eternal peace on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 in the comfort of her home in Charlotte, NC.
Issie was born September 30, 1933 to the late William James Owens and the late Sarah Sinclair Owens whom preceded her in death. Issie was born and raised in Roseboro, NC and later moved to Clinton, NC in 2006 until her health declined , at which time she moved to Charlotte, NC in 2022, where she remained until God called her home. Issie was a member at Roseboro First Missionary Baptist Church until her health declined. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.
Home Going Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328. Pastor Lonnie Manley, officiating. Burial will follow in Roseboro-Snow Hill Cemetery located on Marion Amos Rd. off Hwy 24.
Visitation will be 1:00-6:00 pm, with family present 5:00-6:00 pm, on Friday, November 24, 2023 within Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel.
She was preceded in death by 2 sons, Perry Jr. Owens and David Earl Owens; 1 daughter, Lillie Mae Herriott; 3 sisters: Sarah Devane, Katie Melvin, and Emma Freeman; 4 brothers: Sammie Lee Owens, Elmer Gray Owens, David Owens, and Willie Owens; 2 grandsons: Zebedee Whitfield and Theodore Owens; and 1 granddaughter, Andretta Herriott.
Issie leaves to cherish, 4 daughters: Rose Mary Owens of Fayetteville, NC, Geneva Owens of Fayetteville, NC, Amanda Gail Gibbs (Larry) of the home, and Dorothy Fay Owens of Salemburg, NC; 2 sons: Jerry Allen Owens of Roseboro, NC and Irving Ray Owens of Salemburg, NC; 1 sister Rosie Davis of Roseboro, NC; 12 granddaughters including special granddaughter, Camille Boford (Shawn) of the home. Ikeysha Peques (Stephen), Latoya Herriott Warren, Mesha Owens, LaChisha Bethea, Diandra Bethea, Lashonda Bethea (Mason), Robyn Williams, Chantal Duncan (Rakeem), Santana Owens, and Arletha Standback (Thurman); 6 grandsons: Perry Owens (Angel), Lorenzo Herriott, David Owens, Antonio Owens, Jerry Jr. Owens, and Dennis Newton (Fatima); 35 great grandchildren; 13 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
