Our Heavenly Father, in His infinite wisdom and divine love, on the morning of Monday, September 30, 2024 at Willow Creek Nursing in Goldsboro, NC, gave our beloved sister, Gladys Irene (Grant) Watson 93, her final orders and transitioned her to a place of eternal rest.
Home Going Service will take place at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328. Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Wayne Memorial Park, 2925 US-117, Dudley, NC 28333.
Visitation will be 1:00-6:00 pm, family will be present 5:00-6:00 pm, on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328.
Gladys was born February 15, 1931 to the late William and Susan Grant Jacobs. She received her education from Sampson County Schools and Wayne Community College with an Associate Degree in geriatric technichian. She worked as a caregiver, 20 years at St. Elizabeth Hospital in New Jersey and over 30 years at a nursing home in Mount Olive, NC. She was a dedicated member at St. Andrews Christian Church in Dudley, NC since 1975 where she served as a ruling elder until her health decline.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, David Lee Watson; a daughter, Alicia Watson; a sister, Alice Whitted; and a brother, William Edward Jacobs.
Gladys leaves to cherish her memories two sisters: Hattie Mildred Stephens of Newton Grove, NC and Thelma Jean Smith of Clinton, NC; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
