On Thursday June 12, 2025, George H. Tatum Jr. peacefully transitioned into an eternel rest at Sampson Regional Medical Center, at the age of 69. He was a great father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a loving son. He received his education from Lakewood High School. George loved to sing and he had a very gifted talent with instruments and music. He loved his family and his children deeply.
Home Going Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Dove Chapel AME Zion, located at 10350 Turnbull Road Fayetteville, NC.
A walk thru will be held 2:00-6:00 pm, with family present 5:00-6:00 pm, on Friday, June 20, 2025 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC.
George served in the Navy for a period of time and was the son of the late Brother George Tatum Sr. and Mother Emma Tatum.
George is preceded in death by his siblings: Dorothy Stevens, Samuel Tatum, and Joyann Tatum.
He is survived by his wife: Glenda Tatum; five biological children: Craig Rich (Michele), April Bell (Carl), Tiffany Tatum, Zachary McLamb (Nichell), Tia Tatum (Gary Jr.); one child accepted in love:Edmond Fennell; and five bonus children. He also leaves four sisters: Ruby McKoy (Glen), Teresa Williams (Larry), Ida Thompson, and Florence Williamson; one brother: James Foster (Betty); twenty-one grandkids; four great grandkids; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
