Frances Arlene Carter, also known as Midget, passed away on January 24, 2024, at the age of 76 in Clinton, NC. Frances was born on July 18, 1947, in Wilmington, NC, to the late Wiley J. Armwood and Evelyn E. Brown-Armwood. Frances was raised in Sampson county where she later left for Washington, DC. Where she met he late husband Henry Carter. Later in life with her health declining she returned to NC until her passing. Frances joined The People's Church of Clinton where her home going service will partake. 

Frances was a wanderer who had a vibrant and sociable personality. She was known for her outgoing nature and her ability to strike up conversations with anyone. Frances had a great sense of humor and always brought joy to those around her with her harmless jokes.

A viewing in honor of Frances Arlene Carter will be held on February 2, 2024, at Hope Valley Funeral Home in Clinton, NC. Frances service will be held February 3, at 11:00 am at The People's Church at 702 Sampson Street in Clinton, NC. She will be laid to rest in the Armwood Cemetery in Faison, NC. 

walkthrough will be held Friday February the 2nd 2024 from 2:00 until 6:00 family be present from 5:00 to 6:00 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Service 1246 Hobbton Highway Clinton North Carolina.

Frances is survived by her son, Ricky Armwood (Noell), of Maryland, and her three daughters, Anthelina Armwood of Faison, NC, Twanda Carter and Felicia Carter, both of Maryland. She also leaves behind three sisters: Teresa Armwood of Clinton, NC, Hepsie Armwood of Faison, NC, and Bernetha Armwood-Jones (Rufus) of Maryland. Additionally, Frances is survived by her two brothers Almond Armwood and Theodore Armwood of Faison, NC, and her aunt, Evelyn Armwood of Faison. Frances will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Whitney Armwood and Sydney Armwood-Clark (Justin) of NC, Justin Armwood, Zandamir Carter, Jourdan Armwood, and Parker Carter, all of Maryland. She was also the great-grandmother to Wintour Major and Greyson Clark of NC, Landyn Clark and Levi Clark of PA, Karlito Armwood and Aaliyah Armwood of Maryland. Frances is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and several great-great-nieces and nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley Armwood-Brown (Milton Brown), and her brothers: William T. Armwood (Diane), Larry D. Armwood (Sandra), Wiley J. Armwood (Doris), Foster L. Armwood (Debbie), Ashe W. Armwood, and Carl Armwood.

Frances attended the old Hargrove High School in Faison. She was a member of The People's Church, where she found solace and support. In her free time, Frances enjoyed the art of quilting, creating beautiful quilts by hand. She also had a passion for needlepoint and found joy in expressing her creativity through this craft
