Eric Brewington Obituary

Eric Gordon Brewington, 66, of 808 Burnett Ln. Godwin, NC, placed his hand into our Lord’s hand on Sunday, August 21, 2022.

Eric was born to Dixie Brewington on December 18, 1955 and spent most of his childhood living the country life with his grandparents Jessie and Melvina Brewington. He joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17, months before graduating from high school. His basic training was completed at Paris Island, South Carolina, later he was stationed in Hawaii with the 1st Battalion 3 rd. Marines 1st Marine Brigade   which was during the Vietnam era. He was later stationed at Camp Lejeune North Carolina with the Indian C0mpany 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines of Company G where he was close to home and family. After serving his country from March 1973 to September 1977 he began working in construction and a great carpenter he was. Although, married twice to the same girl he never had children but he most definitely loved spending time with his nieces, nephews, and cousins from all over.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Dixie Brewington Alicea, grandparents, Jessie and Melvina Brewington, four uncles; Winfred (Buddy) Brewington, Dwight Brewington, Wallace Truman Brewington, and George Matthew Brewington and three aunts; Ruby Simmons, Barbara Baisden, and Beverly Brewington.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Holly Grove Holiness Church, 1519 Indian Town Rd, Clinton, NC 28328.

He is survived by two sisters; Norma Slatton (Gabriel) of Clinton, NC, Elizabeth (Libby)Marquez (Merbin) of Turkey, NC, and two brothers; Manuel Alicea Jr. of Madison, Wisconsin, and Anthony Alicea of Dallas, Texas, two aunts; Glenda Chavis of Charlotte, NC, Cynthia Smith of King, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also, most special to Eric, his special cousin Sharon Jacobs Lesley and her late husband (John) of Fayetteville, NC.

Eric was a loving person and always stayed busy working with his hands as he loved carpentry work. He grew closer and closer to the Lord as his time on Earth was near the end. He constantly thanked the Lord and asked him to show him the light.  And in late August of 2022 his wish was granted.
