Emma Lucille Joyner Herring 86, departed this life for eternity in God’s kingdom on Saturday, May 20,2023 at Kitty Askins Hospice in Goldsboro.
Emma was born in Wayne County on October 17, 1936 to the late Agatha Massey and John Joyner. She graduated from Grantham High School and absolutely loved class reunions. Emma was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother, and neighbor. Over the years she became a friend to many in the community of Vann’s Crossroads. She loved to cook, was a hard worker, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Emma also loved spending time at the beach. Most of all Emma loved God and there is no doubt that he is telling her today “Well done my good and faithful servant”.
A Graveside Service will take place at 11:30 am on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Grandview Memorial Park, 2809 US-421, Clinton, NC 28328.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328.
Emma is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Loften Herring; her mother, Agatha Massey Joyner; father John Joyner; sisters: Hazel Hall, Naomi Cole, Sadie Joyner; and brother, Jerry Joyner.
Left to cherish the wonderful memories of Emma are her children: Seanna Herring Copeland and husband Paul Gene Copeland of LaGrange, NC; Rex Loften Herring and girlfriend Charlotte, grandchildren: Marsha Herring and Michelle Herring; siblings: Johnny Mack Joyner and Gene Joyner; and great grandchildren: Reese West, Ransom West, Landis Burch, and Trent Miller.
