Mr. Emerson McNeill (Mac) Canady, 91, of Gray’s Creek (Hope Mills, NC), went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Mr. Mac Canady was born and raised in the Gray’s Creek community. He was an avid hunter and commercial fisherman and used those skills to supplement his income over the course of his lifetime. He spent many years working for Burlington Mills, then became a pipefitter working over 20 years at Dupont followed by construction projects in various towns. A lifelong member of Green Springs Baptist Church, Mac had a passion for the Lord.
In honor of Mac’s desire to lead others to the Lord, the family requests your presence at worship services at Green Springs Baptist Church at 11 am on Sunday, June 8, 2025, immediately followed by a memorial service. Visitation and lunch will be held immediately following the services in the church fellowship hall.
Mac was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ada Canady and siblings Frank Jr, Vann, Lorraine, Charles, Peggy, Ruby and Smoot.
Mac is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Frances Hollingsworth Canady, daughters Melody (Wayne) Scott and Jennifer Dunlap, granddaughters Angie (Cliff) McNeill and Gina (Frankie) Roberts, great granddaughters Ashley (Doni) Moore, Ashley (Anthony) Guillory, Jamee Lynn (Josh) Grice, 7 great great grandchildren, Nick, Raylan, Isabella, James, Sabrina, Justin, and Freya, special nieces, Wendy (Dennis) Swan and family and Ada Faye Bramble, and nephews Paul Bridgeman (Kathy) and Tim Dunn (Susan).
