Lovell Daughtry, 91 of 1300 S.W.Blvd born October 27, 1933, in Sampson County, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, surrounded by family and love. He was the son of the late Mary Bell Casey Daughtry and John Paul Daughtry.
Funeral service will be 3:00 pm on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Christ Ministries Church, 2741 Turkey Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328. Burial will follow in Clinton Cemetery, located on West Elizabeth St., Clinton, NC 28328.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, 2:00-3:00 pm, within the chapel.
Lovell was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Patricia Daughtry. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, James Edward, John Deloyt, and Dempsey Lyndall; his sister, Dorcas Daughtry McLamb; and his sons, Anthony Dewitt Daughtry and Lee Wilkinson.
A founding member of Alamance Street Rods, Elbert had a lifelong passion for classic cars and NASCAR. He found joy in the roar of racecars and the thrill of the track, sharing his love for NASCAR with those around him. Lovell took great pride in his American roots, always cherishing the values of hard work, freedom, and community. He was a dedicated and faithful member of Christ Ministries Church, where his faith was a cornerstone of his life.
Lovell’s family was his greatest joy. He is survived by his children, Denise Daughtry Haizlip (Tim) and Christopher Wilkinson (April), as well as his daughter-in-law, Juanita Wilkinson. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Brittany McPherson (Brad), Harrison Wilkinson, Mark Wilkinson (Erika), Jacob Simpson, Connor Wilkinson, Casey Haizlip, Hannah Wilkinson, and Blake Haizlip. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Claire, Jackson, Max, Madison, Lucas, Arthur, and Samuel, who brought him endless happiness.
Lovell was a proud member of the Hardee’s Breakfast Club, where he enjoyed good company and conversation. Whether swapping stories with friends or keeping his grandkids entertained with his playful nature, his humor was a signature part of who he was. His warm presence, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to his dedicated nurses and CNAs from Liberty Hospice—Jennifer, Megan, Mari, Vanessa, Sheri, and Connie—for their compassionate care.
