Edith Thames

Edith Carolyn Thames, 85 of Godwin, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at UNC Chapel Hill surrounded by family.

Edith was born in Lancaster, SC on August 27, 1934 and was a daughter of the late William and Lilly (Ellis) Phillips.  She enjoyed sewing and coloring but most importantly spending time with her family and friends.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 2,2019 at 1:00 pm at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Service, located at 1246 Hobbton Highway, Clinton, NC 28328 with Pastor James Simmons officiating. The burial will be followed at Grandview Memorial Park located at 2809 US-421, Clinton, NC 28328.

She was preceded in death by her parents and seventeen siblings.

She is survived by her five children: Micky and wife, Shirley, of Elizabethtown, NC: Carolyn Caid of Newton Grove, NC: Sarah and husband Glenn of Godwin, NC: Alfred Thames of Godwin, NC; and Charles and wife Jocelyn of Clinton, NC.  Eighteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held 2 hours prior to funeral from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the funeral home.  Professional services are entrusted to Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Service & Cremation.
