Dorothy Faye Garner, 65, of 954 Matthis Road, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, December 11, 2025.

Dorothy was born on December 17, 1959, to the late Houston Ray Garner and Sarah Ruth Garner. She was lovingly known by many names, including Ma, Ma Dot, Aunt Dot, Mama, and Gramma—titles that reflected the deep love she shared with her family.

Dorothy attended Clinton City Schools and earned her diploma from Clinton High School in 1978. She devoted her life to being a homemaker and found great joy in caring for her family, especially her grandchildren and others she nurtured throughout her life, earning the cherished name “Ma Dot.”

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Garner and Herbert Williams.

Home Going Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Olivet Institutional Baptist Church located at 537 McKoy Street in Clinton. Burial will follow in The Sandhill Cemetery located on McKoy Street in Clinton. 

A walk thru will be held  on Friday, December 19, 2025 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy Clinton from 2:00pm - 7:00pm with family present from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm.

She leaves to cherish her memory her three children: Terrance Garner (Jessica), Montressa Garner (Mark), and Natasha Garner (Devin); two sisters, Laurie Culbreth (Ron) and Lenora Garner (Terry); two brothers, Darius Garner (Lynn) and Toriano Best; three aunts, Genie Williams, Mary Herring (Johnny Boy), and Annie Garner; and one uncle, James Garner (Regina).

Dorothy also leaves behind ten grandchildren: Shakiyah Boykin, Alexis Bennett, Amari Bennett, De’Arrius Boykin, Amir Boykin, Zavian Boykin, Ta’Mya Garner, Trae'Von Garner, Daniel Maynor (Maddy), Jaida Ford, and; two great-grandchildren, Za’Laya Faison and Josiah Boykin.

She is further survived by special friends Robert Boykin, Glenda Faison, Tony Needham, Raymond Boone, and Marian Garner, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
