Donald 'Cowboy' Campbell 63, of 1321 Dairy Rd., passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at his home.

Donald, better known as Donnie by his family and friends, was born in Sampson County on January 9, 1962 to the late John Henry Campbell Sr. and Lucille O'Dell. Donnie loved to watch wrestling and was a life long fan of Elvis Presley. He also loved his pets and enjoyed caring of them. Most of all, Donnie adored his grandchildren and loved to spend time with them when he was able.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 30, 2025 in the Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328. Pastor Lynn Blackburn, officiating.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 within the Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel.

Donnie is preceded in death by his parents: John and Lucille Campbell Sr., and his siblings: Daniel Campbell, Johnny Campbell, Jimmy Campbell, and Russell Campbell.

Those left to chrish the memory of Donnie include his children: Tonya Bass Laird (Christopher) of Newton Grove, Joseph Campbell (Kimberly Burgess) of Garland, Christy Campbell-Maupin (Jack Jr.) of Eastover, and Tasha Ezzell (Craig); his 13 grandchildren; nieces and nephews: Charles Bass, David Stone, Alson Stone, Offie Campbell, and JJ Campbell; and his best friend: James Naylor.
