Charles Burgess Obituary

Charles Burgess, 67, of 46 Mandolia Lane, Roseboro,NC, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at his home.

Charles was born in Sampson County on November 13, 1958 to the late Jefferson Monroe and Luella (Wilson) Burgess. He worked for the NCDOT, which was a fitting job for a man who loved cars and mechanic work as much as he did. Charles had such a passion for mechanic work and his truck was his greatest pride, next to his family. Charles also loved race cars and monster trucks. Charles was a hard working man who never left a job unfinished. When he worked on something, he made it his mission to see it done right the first time. While he was serious about his work, there was also a comedic side to Charles. He loved comedy in every form and knew that laughter was truly the best medicine. More than anything, Charles was a family man and will be missed dearly by his loved ones.

Funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC. In honoring Charles's wishes, he will be cremated.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents: Jefferson Monroe Burgess and Luella Wilson Burgess; his son: Matthew Newgent; and grandson: Cameron Newgent.

Visitation will take place prior to the service, 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm, on Friday, November 21, 2025, within the Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC.
