Cathy Ann (Bailey) Monk

On Wednesday May 18, 2022 at 5:30 pm at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, NC, God sent his angels to take out beloved mother, sister, aunt and grandmother, Cathy Bailey Monk, into his kingdom. 

Cathy was born April 14, 1955 to the late Edward Buck and Eskerline Bailey. She received her high school diploma from Charles E. Perry. She went on to obtain her cosmetology degree from Sampson Community College. On June 23, 1973 she married James Powell Warren. They had one son together, James Sharell Powell. Unfortunately on December 14, 1973, she had to bury her husband. She went on to later marry Johnny James Jones and to their marriage three children were born; Johnny, April and Thomas. In her later years she worked at Sampson Regional Medical Center as a housekeeper until she became disabled. She remained a homemaker, raising her children as well as nieces and nephews. She was a mother to the entire family. She never let her disability stop her. She loved cooking and sewing. She especially loved her family coming together to cook big Sunday dinners.

Cathy is preceded in death by her husbands James Powell and Johnny Jones; brothers James Bailey and Edward Bailey; sisters Jennie Laster and Victory Bailey; and her eldest son James Powell. 

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday May 28, 2022 at Gateway Deliverance Ministries located at 1776 Rowan Rd. Clinton, NC 28328. Bishop Eddie Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Bearskin Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 pm, with family present from 5:00-6:00 pm, on Friday May 27, 2022 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Clinton, NC 28328.  

Cathy leaves to cherish her memories forever her three children: Johnny Jones, April Jones and Thomas Jones (Rickeya Brown) all of Roseboro, NC; one sister Louise Williams; one brother Thomas Bailey (Sharon) both of Roseboro, NC.
