Clinton,
Carolyn Owens Herring 65, passed away at UNC Chapel Hill on Monday, November 22, 2021.
Carolyn was born July 22,1956 in Clinton, at Sampson Memorial Hospital. Upon graduating from Roseboro-Salemburg High School in 1974, Carolyn attended Sampson Technical College, later finding employment with the National Guard Armory as a secretary, Mary Gran Nursing Home in dietary, Sampson Regional Medical Center's coffee shop, and finally retiring from Clinton Medical Clinic's environmental services.
On October 11, 1980, Carolyn married Marvin Herring and reared four children, Anthony, Latonya, Natasha, and Nickie.
Mother Carolyn Herring, known by her church family, The New Church of Christ, Faison, Apostle Blonny Aycock, Pastor, accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined the ministry in May 2003. Being an active member of the ministry, Mother Carolyn Herring became the head mother of the church being a part of the church anniversary committee, pastor's anniversary committee, assistant treasurer, head of the missionary ministry, kitchen staff, and holy communion board. She will be greatly missed by her church family.
Home Going Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at The New Church of Christ, 9659 Faison Hwy, Faison, Apostle Blonny Aycock, officiating. Burial will follow in Clinton Cemetery.
A Walk through will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021 from 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm with family present from 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Service & Cremation, 1246 Hobbton Hwy. Clinton.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her father Emmo Owens.
Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory her husband: Marvin Herring; mother: Mary Lillie Williams Owens; sister: Linda Owens; son: Anthony Owens; daughters: Latonya Deaver, Natasha Peterson (Terence), and Nickie Hobbs (Marshall); eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends.
