Bobby Autry

Bobby Sherrill Autry, 79, of George Autry Lane died Saturday morning, May 20th. at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Bobby was born in Sampson County, September 2, 1943 to the late George Autry and Ruth “Dee” Thornton Autry. Bobby was a “master” lathe builder who designed all of our favorite furniture designs, including the popular “Cannon Ball” beds that we love so much today. He retired from Carolina Wood Turnings in 1998. After a 36 year career. 

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruth, his oldest son, David Sherrill, and his three brothers, Sammy Thomas Autry, George Wayne Autry, and Billy Reed Autry, all of Clinton, NC.

Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Katie Bell Ammons Autry of the home; one son, Bobby Glenn Autry and his wife Iris Lee Ann Autry, one daughter Wanda Kay Autry King, 3 Grandchildren, Charles Dakota “Cody” Carter of Richmond VA, Collin Scott King and wife Andrea Lopez King of Clinton NC, Austin Scott King and his loving fiancé Julianna Marie Greene, also of Clinton NC, and finally, the Great grand children, Gabriel “Gabe” King and Nairobi “Ruby” King. 

The Family would like to give a special thanks to the Gentiva Hospice Team, especially Nurse Tommie (Dads buddy) and Nurse Carol. Also social worker Mikki Pearson, and special volunteer Amanda Montague. Most of all we want to thank Dr. Lawrence Watts.
