Betty Jo Hammonds 56, of 121 Corinth Church Rd., passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at her home. 

Betty Jo was born in Robeson County on June 5, 1967 to parents, Billy Dean Richardson and Betty Jean (Revels) Richardson. Betty Jo enjoyed the thrill of finding a good deal and could often be found thrifting and hitting yard sales. She loved her sweet tea with extra ice and extra Sweet N Low ("The Pink Kind"). Betty Jo will be remembered for her heart of gold. She would help anyone she could and never knew a stranger. She would strike up conversations with just about anyone and always had a story to tell. Most of all Betty Jo was a loving mother and grandmother. She adored her grandbabies so much. 

In honoring Betty Jo's wishes no services will be held. 

Betty Jo is preceded in death by her parents, Billy Dean and Betty Jean Richardson; as well as her brother, Jimmy Revels.

Betty Jo is survived by her four children: Tiffany Oxendine (Tobby) of Lumberton, NC, Johnathon Hammonds (Kirstie Turner) of Lumberton, NC, Ashley Richardson (Cameron) of Roseboro, NC, and Nicholas Odum of Lumberton, NC; her siblings: Jerry Revels of Lumberton, NC, Kenny Richardson of Lumberton, NC, Ella Nelson of Rock Hill, SC, and Scottie Richardson of Rock Hill, SC; and her five grandchildren: Kaitlyn Oxendine, Jacinda Oxendine, Ivey Price, Adaleigh Hammonds, and Nash Price.
