Algernon “ AL” James 73 of 930 Weiss Ave, died Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at his home.

Mr. Algernon James was born on August 4, 1950 to Ms. Rosie James who preceded him in death on July 28, 2014. He died at home with his family. After high school he joined the Air Force once he received his honorable discharge. He went to Sampson Community College where he received his degree in Criminal Justice. He was a police officer for the city of Roseboro, later on going to the Sheriff Department in Clinton, NC; then becoming a Detective for over 20 years. He loved fishing, family time and just kicking back laughing.
A Graveside Service will take place at 12:00 pm on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery 8220 Bragg Blvd Spring Lake NC.

He leaves to cherish his memories: His children, 1 daughter: Theresa (Nelson) Gayten of Greensboro; 2 sons: Algernon DeWayne (Brandie) James of the home; Brandon James, Roseboro; 7 grandchildrem: Shakyme Mathis of Roseboro, NC; Antonio Hemmingway of Durham, NC; Darwin Hemmingway of Greensboro, NC; Algernon D. James, Jr., Brayden James, Gwendolyn Azar James all of the home; 10 great-grandchildren; a special aunt: Mrs. Ella James; a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends. “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body. and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8
