Winfred Highsmith 77, departed this life of labor for rest and reward on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Wake Med in Raleigh, NC. Winfred was born in Bladen County on March 11, 1947 to the late Lucy Highsmith and Vann B. Highsmith.
Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at Robinson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2217 Old Mintz Hwy., Roseboro, NC 28382. After the service, in honoring Winfred's wishes, he will be cremated.
Visitation will be held 2:00-5:00 pm on Saturday, August 31, 2024 within Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328.
Winfred attended school at Bladen Central and later he moved up to Philadelphia to live. He was a person of many trades. He was a quiet person, yet once you got to know him he was known for his wonderful sense of humor.
Winfred was preceded in death by three brothers: Donald Ray Highsmith, Windell Highsmith and Henry Highsmith; as well as one sister: Cheryl Ann Highsmith.
His memory will forever be cherished by those he leaves behind. Winfred leaves two sisters: Linda Johnson of Raleigh, NC and Mary Ann Highsmith of Wilmington, NC; three brothers: Kater Highsmith (Jennie) of Ivanhoe, NC, Johnell Highsmith (Sudie) of Harrells, NC and Ronald Ray Highsmith (Georgia) of Raleigh, NC; one aunt: Isabell Highsmith of Clinton, NC; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
