Walter "Duke" Hopkins Jr. 76, passed away on Friday May 1, 2026 at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton, NC.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Details to be announced by Hope Valley Hawkins.

Duke was born July 12, 1949 in Sampson County to the late Walter Hopkins Sr and Alma DeLuca. Duke proudly served his country as a member of The Untied States Army. Upon the completion of his military service, Duke went on to work in food service. He enjoyed cooking BBQ, loved the beach, and could often be found surfing or fishing.

In addition to his parents, Duke is preceded in death by his brother, Donald Hopkins.

He is survived by his loving wife Christina Brollini of the home, his children: Michael Ray Hopkins (Joy) of Turkey, NC, Scotty Hopkins (Jessica) of Warsaw, NC, Katherina Brollini of Kentucky, Allison Hopkins of Surf City, NC and Emma Carter of Surf City; his siblings: Pat Merrillo of Dunn, NC, Johnny Hopkins of Clinton, NC and Frank Potter of Benson, NC; his grandchildren: Zachary Hopkins (Lexi), Spencer Hopkins (Miracle), and Nicklos Hopkins; his great grandchild: Leo Ray Hopkins, Benny Ray Hopkins, and Dellah Grace Hopkins.
