Thomas Jeffery Long Sr. 64, passed away on Sunday July 24, 2022 at WakeMed Health & Hospital in Raleigh.

Thomas was born in Wayne County on February 4, 1958 to the late Alice G. Smith and Robert F. Long. He worked in maintenance for the NC DOT and loved working on cars. Thomas had a passion for drag racing. He took pride in his cars and enjoyed sharing his love of racing with his family, who could often be found with him at the track.

A Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday July 27, 2022 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy. Clinton, NC 28328.

Thomas is preceded in death by his siblings: Jackie Long, Glen Long, Jerry Long and Carylon Hinson.

Left to cherish the memories of Thomas are his loving wife Joyce Lee Long of the home as well as his children Thomas Jeffery Long II and wife Melissa Long of Roseboro and Tiffany Tanner and husband Brandon Tanner of Clinton. Thomas also leaves his grandchildren Hannah G. Bryant, Nevaeh Tanner, Elizabeth Johnson, Matthew Long, Adrian Merritt, Jayden Long, Amanda Foss, Chelsa Foss, Aaron Merritt and David Merritt; and one great granddaughter Bailey Bryant.
