Robert Allen Tanner, 70, of 69 Reagan Lane passed peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday January 25 th 2023 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

Robert was born in Sampson County on July 18, 1952 to the late Lester Tanner and Zelda Mae Owens Tanner. Robert worked as a Truck Driver for Crumpler Plastic Pipe for years and was a telephone Company Sub-Contractor with Cape Fear Cable and S&N Contractors until he retired. Robert loved all things animal but had a sweet spot for horses. He was a great friend that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents Lester and Zelda Mae Tanner, a sister Dian Autry, brother in law Billy Ray Haney and a grandson Adam Gunkel.

Robert leaves behind two children Linda Joyce Tanner of Roseboro, Robert Keith Tanner & wife Cathy Gunkel Tanner of Fayetteville, sisters Vivian Haney of Roseboro & Silvia McLamb of Roseboro; Brother In Law Jerry Autry ,three grandchildren, Raevyn Tanner, & Blake Thornton of Roseboro, Kaylee Tanner Hope & husband Taylon Hope of Fayetteville and 1 great grandchild Ryder Keith Gunkel of Fayetteville along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be a Graveside Service held Sunday, January 29th 2023 at 2:00 pm at the Haney Family Cemetery located at 1551 Autry Hwy. Roseboro, NC 28382. Pastor Greg Smith officiating.
