Clinton- Mrs. Oleta Joyce Burke-Fields, 85 of 514 Fayetteville Street, Clinton passed on Friday May 11th, 2012 at Sampson Regional Medical Center. A funeral service was held at 7:00 pm Sunday May 13th, 2012 at Plain View Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Chubby Reiber & Rev. Ray Carter officiating. Burial followed at 11:00 am Monday May 14th, 2012 at Mt. Gilead Church Cemetery on Hwy. 421 S in Clinton. Mrs. Oleta was born August 10th, 1926 in Sampson County to John Wright Carter & Maggie Fryar. She was a homemaker, sister, mother, grandmother & friend. She was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church in Clinton. She was preceded in death by her daughter: Joyce Oleta Burke Tadlock Luxich; Brothers: Joe Carter, Albert Carter & Edward Carter; Sisters: Beatrice Carter, Jesse Jones, & Clara Carter Oleta was a loving wife for 21 years to her husband Willie Garland (Shorty) Burke & to the late William Dennis Fields Mrs. Oleta leaves to cherish her memories: Sons- Robert Burke of Clinton, NC; Wade Burke of Warsaw, NC Brothers- Graham Carter & Bernice Carter of Clinton, NC Sister- Alene Matthis of Albemarle, NC Five (5) Grandchildren & Ten (10) Great-grandchildren Visitation was held Sunday May 13th, 2012 at Plain View Freewill Baptist Church from 6 pm - 7 pm.
