Obituary

Melva Patricia Owens was born on December 15, 1954, to the late Earl Lee Owens and Bridie Lee Owens in Sampson County, North Carolina. This is where she became the beautiful, loving, warm-hearted, understanding, compassionate, funny, outspoken, women we all knew her to be. Anyone who knew Melva, knew she loved to get dolled up with her infamous red lipstick, smelling good with her lotions and perfumes, mostly the "peace sign" that she would always display to us with her beautiful smile. Melva was very family-orientated. She was always at the center of family functions where she demonstrated her love through her cooking, baking, dancing and her love of music. There was never a dull moment around Melva, mainly due to the strong Southern accent she never lost; you couldn't help but laugh. Melva's parents, Earl Lee Owens and Bridie Lee Owens and five of her brothers, Almond Owens (Genny Owens), Benny Ray Owens, Willie Owens, James Owens (LouEllen Owens) and Windell Owens (JoAnne Owens), all preceded her in death.
