Obituary

On Thursday, November 23, 2023, after a period of declining health, Marion Lee "Jabo" Aycock III slipped away peacefully surrounded by his family on the journey to be with his Heavenly Father.

Jabo, as he was affectionately known to many, was born on May 15, 1957, a son of the late Marion Lee Aycock Jr. and Peggy Jean Little Aycock. He grew up in the Faison, North Carolina community and was educated in the North Duplin County School District where he graduated from North Duplin High School in 1976. He resided in Faison, North Carolin until his later years moving to Clinton, North Carolina.

Marion gave his life to Christ at an early age and was an active member of Moses Chapel, where he served faithfully until he later joined Sampson Chapel. He was a very hardworking man holding numerous jobs including Mount Olive Pickle Plant and Carolina Turkey. He worked his last job at Pride of Sampson until his health declined.He married the love of his life on February 12, 2000. Marion wasn't a man of many words, but when he spoke, he spoke words of wisdom. He praised the Lord through tears. Marion trusted and depended on the Lord no matter what he was going through, and he never complained.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Sampson Chapel Church,  Clinton, NC 28328. Bishop Chester L. Aycock, Eulogist and Elder Donald Graham, Officiating. Burial will follow at Cobb Cemetery in Faison.

Visitation will be held 2:00-6:00 pm, with family present 5:00-6:00 pm, on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton, NC 28328 and other times 870 Taylors Bridge Hwy Clinton.

In addition to his parents, Marion was preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth Ann Ayock Saunders; mother-in-law, Anna Marie Ruffin; and his grandsons, Jonathan Vann and Kayden Rich.

Those remaining to cherish precious memories include his beloved wife of 23 years, Minister Patricia Aycock; daughters: Lena Renee Aycock of Clinton, NC, Veronica Vann (William) of Clinton, NC, and Latonya Seaberry (John) of Calypso, NC; sons: Kevin Ruffin of Elizabethtown, NC, Sidney Killett of Clitnon, NC, and bonus son Jesse Herring of Clinton, NC; grandchildren: Elder Osaybeon Howard (Tempestt) of Fayetteville, NC, Jimmy Howard of Clinton, NC, Allysha Owens of Roseboro, NC, Alexis Owens of Clinton, NC, Shaniya, Josiah, and Braylon Ruffin of Raleigh, NC, Jordan Bryant of Clinton, NC, and Chase McClean of Erwin, NC; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Lisa Coley (Tony) of Clinton, NC, Phyllis Aycock of Clinton, NC, and a bonus sister Edna Aycock of Warsaw, NC; 2 brothers: Lonnie Aycock (Sylvia) of Faison, NC and Michael Aycock of Antonio, Texas; 3 aunts: Clara Little of Warsaw, NC, Mallie Barksdale of Faison, NC, and Ida Leach of Dudley, NC; 1 uncle Bishop Chester Aycock (Tina) of Wilson, NC; 3 brothers-in-law: James McPhail (Loletha), Evander and Arthur Ruffin of Clinton, NC; a special sister-in-law Maggie Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
