Maria Carmen Rivera 93, of 1998 Maco Rd. NE, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at her home surrounded by family and loved ones.

Maria was born on October 24, 1929 in La escondida, Guanajuato, Mexico to the late Felipa Morquecho and Jose Cruz Zamarripa. She migrated between the United States and Mexico between 1985 and 1991. She settled in North Carolina in July of 1991. She was strong in her faith, prayed her rosary, and would always pray.

Mass was held on Monday, October 16, 2023 at Basilica of Saint Mary in Wilmington, NC with burial following in the Shiloh United Methodist Church: Maco cemetery located at 1874 Maco Rd., Leland, NC.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents: Jose Cruz Zamarripa and Felipa Morquecho; 12 of her children; and 3 grandchildren.

Left to cherish Maria's memory: daughters: Maria Jordan and Maria Rico; 14 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and 1 brother, Socorro, who remains in Mexico. She is also remembered by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
