Born May 06, 1950 in Washington DC, she was the daughter of the Late Mr. Leroy Smith and Mrs. Shirley Rich Smith. She was a 1968 graduate of Sampson High School in Clinton, NC and graduated North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC in 1972.

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Shirley R. Smith of the home; her daughter, Ms. ZhaTahlia Kee of the home; 2 brothers, Mr. Charles Smith and Mr. James (Amy)Smith and a host of relatives and friends.
