Lucille Stevens Millen 95, of 7602 Meredith Dr.,departed from this life Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Walter Reed Nursing Center in Virginia.
Lucille was born in Sampson County, NC on June 2, 1928 to the late Preston T. and Ella Mae Stevens. She married Tommie E. Millen on May 9, 1944.In 1956 the family moved to Virginia and started a new home in Newport News, where together they raised six children: Carolyn Millen of Clinton, Dallas Millen (Sharon) of Gloucester, Nancy Bolton of Gloucester, Ira Millen (Jessie) of York County, Stewart Millen of Hampton, and Gene Millen (Kim) of Gloucester. The family later moved to Gloucester County where Tommie passed away in 1983. A few years later Lucille moved back home to Clinton, NC, where she resided until her health started to deminish. She then moved back to York County to live with her son and daughter-in-law. As her health continued to fail, she moved to Walter Reed Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Gloucester County, Virginia, where she resided until God called her home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Clinton Community Church, 1901 Sunset Ave., Clinton, NC. Rev. Wilda Faircloth and Rev. Mark Fields, officiating. Burial will follow in Springvale Cemetery, located on West Elizabeth St. in Clinton, NC.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, 12:00-1:00 pm, within the chapel of Clinton Community Church, 1901 Sunset Ave., Clinton, NC.
Lucille was pre-deceased by her parents; her only sibling, Patty Andrews of California; granddaughter Candice; and great grandson, Caleb.
She is survived by four generations of children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, who enjoyed visiting her and many of whom were with her in her final days. Lucille loved her very large family, but she also loved her many friends and extended family in North Carolina. She never stopped talking about going back to Clinton. Her journey in this life has now gone full circle and she has returned to her beloved Clinton, NC.
