Larry Johnson, 66, passed away Monday June 15, 2026 at Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville, NC.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday June 20, 2026 at 2pm in the Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Service and Cremation Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy Clinton NC 28328.

Larry Johnson was born on May 7, 1960 to David Gene Bryant and Alice Jean Williams. He attended Sampson County Schools and graduated from Hobbton High School in 1978. As a young man Larry enjoyed playing basketball at the local parks and gyms. He loved hanging out with his brother, cousins, and friends laughing and talking about old times. One of his favorite sayings was "I'm a bad man."

Early on Larry was employed at Hamilton Beach and later went to work at Borden Brick. He enjoyed his jobs and cherished the friendships he made at both. 

Larry is preceded in death by his father David Gene Bryant, brother Lonnie Earl Williams (Motorboat) and sister Sharon Ann Starnes ( Little Ann).

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Janice Johnson of the home; son Brandon Johnson of the home; grandson Avery Anthony Johnson of South Carolina: mother Alice Jean Williams of Clinton NC; brother Robert Williams of Alexandria VA; sister Barbara Jean Floyd of Bonnetsville NC;  one uncle Jimmie Johnson (Laura) of Goldsboro NC; two aunts Gladys Miller of Mt. Olive NC and Linda Sue Copeland (Mike) of Clinton NC; stepchildren Keith Lamont Autry, Kezia Iashawn Goodman, Todd Allen Zachary, Kellie Michelle Parker and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4: 6-7
