Obituary

Judy Gaye Springs King 74 of 687 Five Bridge Road passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, NC.

Born in Sampson County, NC in 1946 to the late Gilbert & Ruby Melvin Springs, Judy was a homemaker and a stay-at-home mom.  She had many hobbies and interest that included but were certainly not limited to; playing the guitar and autoharp, singing country & gospel music, Judy also wrote and recorded music in her home studio. She enjoyed singing in nursing home for the residents and in her church choir. Judy would often crochet various things such as baby blankets & hand towels, her favorite places to eat were Ted's Steakhouse and the Gristmill with her lady friends from Harmony Church. Judy had 2 cats, Johnny and June named after Johnny and June Cash. Judy had a servant's heart, she would often give money to people in need, she took care of sick family members many years of her life. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband: Mitchell King, a brother: Glenn Springs and grandparents: Cary & Nellie McLemore Melvin and Samuel Edward & Nelle Alice Rogers Springs.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Harmony Baptist Church, 1357 Harmony Church Road, Clinton with Pastor Michael Hall officiating, burial will follow in the Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Judy leaves to cherish her memories: Son: Durwood Mitchell King of Clinton, Daughter: Michele King Leonard and son in-law Charles Leonard of Piney Flats, TN, Sister: Faye Springs Holt of Westland, Michigan, Granddaughter: Ashley Morris (Durwood's daughter) of Evington, VA and Great-Granddaughter: Kyla (Ashley's daughter) Nieces & Nephews: Stephanie Knowles of Clinton, Chris & Jason Springs, Robbie Holt, Rhonda Holt, Ryan Holt and Rory Holt.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Service, 1246 Hobbton Hwy. Clinton, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
