Johnnie Melvin 73, of Garland, NC departed this life early on Friday, February 4, 2022. He was born December 4, 1948 to the late Walter Melvin and Ella Mae (Owens) Melvin.

Johnnie attended the Sampson County School system and Job Corp. He worked at Martin Meat Packing Plant in Godwin, NC and Smithfield Meat Packing Company in Tar Hill, NC. He is preceded in death by his mother Ella Mae Melvin, his father Walter Melvin, sister Ella Jane Council , brother Walter Melvin Jr. and his twin brother Robert Melvin. Johnnies laughter and joking will be missed.

A Graveside Service will take place at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Garland Community Cemetery, 203 Hill Cir Rd, Garland, NC 28441.

He leaves to cherish his memories three sons, Tyrone Herring (Darnella) of Clinton, NC, Jeremy Herring of Atlanta, GA, and Vince Melvin of Clinton, NC; three daughters, Gwendolyn Herring and Chere Herring (Earl) both of Clinton, NC, and Lillie McNeil of Harrells, NC; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Christine Robinson and Essie Carr both of Garland, NC; 2 close nephews, Rodney Mott and Roderick Whitted of Garland, NC; a special cousin and friend, Michael Mclymore of Ingold, NC and a host of nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-6:00 pm Friday, February 11, 2022 at Hope Valley Hawkins Funeral Chapel, 1246 Hobbton Hwy. Clinton, NC 28328.
